Clips are almost ready
February 19, 2006With huge thanks to John in Aussie the clips are almost ready in Real Media format. In the meantime I’ve included links to the mpg files on the relevant category pages in the hope you may be able to view them- a warning, though, the uncoverted files are MASSIVE so unless you’ve got a decent broadband connection I would wait until the Real Media files are available soon. Stay tuned.
I want my cheesy puffs!

New Season ’06
February 6, 2006
Perhaps the most noticeable feature of the new season on TV2 and its sister channel TV ONE is the amount of cross-promotion on both. One second you’re watching an ad-break on 2 and the dog-tag will switch to ONE’s in the top right of screen. And vice-versa. For the slow-witted amongst us (exhausted after a hard day slaving over a hot computer or a from a pint of beer too many) it’s all a bit disconcerting!
Happy Waitangi Day!
February 6, 2006
No special idents from ONE to mark New Zealand’s national day, Waitangi Day, Febraury 6, but they did feature a strong line up of home-grown programming and the ad-break fades during part of prime-time had a black and silver colouring (our national colours) instead of the usual greens, reds or blues.
I’d prefer ONE did have a special idents for Waitangi – after all they do them for Christmas and Summer and ANZAC Day (our war veterans’ day).
Haere Mai!
February 6, 2006![]()
A kapai effort for news coverage over Waitangi Day weekend (Our national day, Waitangi is celebrated every February 6, marking the anniversary of the 1840 signing of the Treaty of Waitangi at the village of Waitangi in the Bay of Islands between Maori and the British Crown).
Dotty no more?
February 6, 2006
Channel Nine in Australia, Prime’s parent, launched a new logo and onscreen presentation last week (see idents.tv link via Blogroll on right). Given that Nine’s got rid of the nine dots from its logo, will Prime here in NZ follow suit? Its presentation is cheap and tacky anyway so this is a perfect chance for an overhaul.
TV3 marks ’06 new season with new graphics
February 6, 2006
Hot sun, summer in the city but we Kiwis are traipsing reluctantly back to work and school. We’ll be too knackered to do much after our exertions except laze on the couch (and maybe have the odd BBQ or two), so the channels launch their new seasons now. TV3′s marking the occasion with new-look menus, junctions, astons and promo graphics, appearing from February 5. Funnily enough, I’m on holiday this week but I’ll record them on my return. In the mean time, what are they like? Well, see TV3′s ‘squares’ in its logo above? Imagine them as three dimensional and bright blue, unfolding out like oragami to reveal words, etc.
G’day, Kia Ora, Talofa lava!

Feb 4 ’06- The cabling is sorted and the computer’s been given a damn good thrashing a few times, and I’m rearing to go, after a little help from those in-the-know (John and Chris)! Over the next two weeks I’ll record some of the basics- idents, news openers, etc. Some may be in mono, others in stereo, but I’ll work for all-stereo eventually.
